Rene Bouvier, Charmes Chambertin Brut Zero(from a ~. 30 ha parcel in Mazoyres). A beautifully layered mlange features notes of red and black pinot fruit, violet, earth, tea and a touch of forest floor. There is fine density to the quite powerful, dusty and robust bigger bodied flavors that terminate in a chewy, moderately austere and compact finale. This is very Mazoyres in character, but the balance is impeccable as is the development potential.

structured by wonderfully plush tannins and bold freshness

concentrated and driving finish that displays more than a little of the classic austerity of young Clos de Vougeot

finishing on a long-lingering licorice note

Ageing was in 228- and 350-litre barrels

but it could well do that if given a chance with at least a few years of bottle age

round and seductive mouth feel to the lush

This hedonistic Syrah could use another 5+ years in bottle to unwind and will be long-lived in the cellar

I like the character here though as it’s frank and direct and the only nit is that the finish is somewhat short
